Rap music hasn’t always had the best reputation for setting good examples to society, but Jermaine Cole’s latest album ‘Forest Hills Drive’ is a game changer. He combines hip hop with his intellectual stamina to create some uplifting and positive songs, which really is quite refreshing! These lyrics are from a song called ‘Love Yourz’, which outlines the importance of love and happiness. This song certainly cheers me up when I’m feeling a little low!
I’ve been to two of J.Cole’s concerts, and I am going to my third this May (super excited!!). He really is one of the best performers that I’ve ever seen. I definitely had to draw a picture of who I personally think is one of the greatest rap artists!

J.Cole’s strong pose in this sketch illustrates his confidence. The shading on the inside of his hand and the creases in the t-shirt really bring this sketch to life.
Watch the process of my sketch, accompanied by his song ‘G.O.M.D’. You may notice that I changed the shape of the lips towards the end of the video. Sometimes I don’t see inaccuracies unless someone else (i.e. my sister or mum) points them out for me. One has to welcome criticism to improve their skills, right?
